Jon Kabat-Zinn on The Power of Mindfulness in a Time of Upheaval
Jon Kabat-Zinn
Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
(MBSR) and professor emeritus at the University of Massachusetts Medical
Center, and Rhonda V. Magee, a renowned teacher of mindfulness-based
interventions for social justice and professor of law at the University of San Francisco,
will present a transformative event exploring the healing power of mindfulness
in difficult times from 7 to 10 p.m., December 6, at the 92nd Street Y Kaufmann
Concert Hall, in New York City.
Kabat-Zinn states, “Through inquiry, investigation and
interpersonal meditative experience, we examine our relationship with our
thoughts, emotions, body and our various interfaces with the social world,
including principled social action. Together, we cultivate embodied presence,
awareness and wakefulness. We also explore how the cultivation of mindfulness
supports ‘taking a stand’ both inwardly and outwardly in the face of injustice,
while not compromising our equanimity, compassion, understanding and humanity.”
Admission is $85 to150.
