Urban Souls Yoga Class to Aid India
As things begin to open up in the United States, the situation in India is becoming increasingly dire. Front-line workers there lack medical resources, and people are being turned away from hospitals and dying at staggering rates. Urban Souls Yoga, in Hoboken, is joining an effort by the global yoga community to mitigate the crisis by offering a special donation-based yoga and meditation class on June 5, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Love for India GoFundMe.
“Support for India’s COVID crisis has become crucial,” the studio’s co-owners, Brendan Gibbons and Karen Flannery, said in a statement. “One of our Urban Souls, who is from India and whose family is there, has built a network of doctors and civil servants who are donating out of their own pockets and fundraising to purchase BIPAP machines and other equipment urgently needed for saving lives. We are joining this compassionate effort.”
The class will be led by US teachers in a round-robin
format, with wine and treats afterwards. For more detail on how the funds will
be used, search Love for India at GoFundMe.com.
