A Holiday Season for the Earth

So, you know how the Earth supplies us with everything we need? Especially during the holidays when we are opening gifts from loved ones in nice and cozy houses, the poor Earth is frozen under all that snow. Well, I say that it’s time we gave the Earth a gift back. How about an eco-friendly Christmas? Here are some tips to get you started. Of course, there are way more possibilities, and you can do this every year!

LED lights: I’m sure we all have Christmas lights, however, instead of regular bulbs, you should use LED lights and use a timer to automatically switch on/off. LED lights not only save energy, they light up more!

Reduce Wastage: Don’t we all cook and buy a lot of food and stuff for friends and family. Make good estimates and try not to buy things that will not be used. If you have excess food after the party, pack and give takeaways to guests. The less we waste, the more we protect our nature and earth.

Tree décor: Instead of buying a fake tree every year, buy a live one, and reuse it every year! To help Earth some more, use the same ornaments, too! Or, if you want, make your own from scratch using recyclable materials.

Gifts: If you can DIY ornaments, I’m pretty sure you can DIY gifts. However, if you don’t have time to make a gift, then you should buy a gift that will last a long time. A tip for Christmas shopping is to order or buy all your gifts at once. When wrapping up gifts, try to use recyclable wrapping paper (sorry, no glitter or foil!).

Donating: If you want, you can donate some money to charities for environmental friendly projects. Be sure to try and donate to some orphanages or other good causes, too!

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!
