Mindfulness-Based Weight-Loss Program Starts in April
Mindfulness is “the missing link to weight loss,” says Laurie Wasserman, co-founder of Absolute Nutrition, who along with holistic integrative healer Rachel Lee Cronin will lead a mindfulness-based weight-loss program beginning April 26.
“Achieving sustainable weight loss is hard, and doing it in our current world almost seems unattainable,” Wasserman says. “Combine the rush, the stress, the responsibilities and the sleeplessness we endure with the constant barrage of temptation: food porn everywhere, the social pressure to overindulge, the endless amount of unhealthy fast food. Without the proper mindset, achieving our health and fitness goals can easily become a lifelong battle.”
Mindfulness is being fully aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive to or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us, Cronin says. “Mindfulness is the wherewithal to pause before eating food that isn’t serving us or ditching a workout we know is good for us.”
The Absolute Self Virtual Imprinting Program, a six-week course, uses guided meditation and mindfulness to help participants “reprogram” their brain to achieve their weight-loss goals. It includes seven weekly two-hour Zoom group meetings with Wasserman and Cronin, and access to an online platform where participants can connect.
