May 19 Fundraiser Supports Foster Children Advocacy
Hudson County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is celebrating its 20th anniversary on May 19, from 7 to 11 p.m., at Battello, in Jersey City. The ticketed event will include cocktails, food, a silent auction and a DJ, with proceeds supporting CASA’s mission of serving local children in foster care.
Hudson County CASA is a nonprofit organization that advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children. It works through trained community volunteers to ensure that needed services and assistance are made available to children while helping move them toward safe and permanent homes.
CASA volunteers are everyday people who make a direct impact on foster children’s lives. They get to know their assigned children and their circumstances and provide valuable information to the court. Judges rely on the volunteers’ recommendations to make the best decisions about the children’s lives. The ultimate goal of CASA is to find a safe and loving home for every child.
Cost: $125 in advance or $150 same day. Location: Battello, 502 Washington Blvd., Jersey City, NJ. For more information, visit HudsonCountyCASA.org.
