Healthy Cooking Classes Available
Healthful, Plant-Based Cooking Class Offered in Jersey City, October 26th from 6-9pm
Local chef and nutrition/health coach Jackie Greene, of Slen’Da’Rella, and chef Doris Choi are teaming up to offer a cooking class on preparing plant-based foods at their kitchen studio in Jersey City. “Date Night: Wok and Roll Party” will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on October 26.
Participants will learn how to prepare raw and cooked plant-based foods in a fun, intimate setting with other like-minded couples. This hands-on cooking party will explain how to make several plant-based staples—such as simple and delicious desserts, mushroom “scallops,” jicama “sushi rice” and cauliflower “rice”—to incorporate into regular cooking routines.
The menu includes raw Thai coconut soup with Thai basil, chili and lime; spicy “tuna” and avocado sushi rolls with wasabi yuzu dip; “fried” cauliflower rice with vegetables (both raw and cooked versions); miso-glazed king oyster mushroom “scallops” with chilled asparagus; coconut yam “cookies”; and warm purple yam pudding with ginger and coconut cream. Participants should bring their own beverages.
The class is limited to eight couples.
Chefs Greene and Choi, who will soon open a business together, specialize in preparing healthful, “clean” meals for busy clients and for events, and in teaching others how to do so easily.
